Happy Australia Day

Happy Australia Day, my friends.

Today, is the day we celebrate Australia Day.

This is for those of us who love the place we were born.
You can’t get more Australian than this – John Williamson standing on the back of Steve Irwin’s ute at Australia Zoo (Steve’s memorial service) singing “Home among the Gum Trees”.

Enjoy.

About Forestwoodfolk

Scandinavian culture, literature and traditions are close to my heart, even though I am Australian. I have Scandinavian, Frisian and Prussian/Silesian ancestry and for that reason, I feel a connection with that part of the world. I am an avid Nordic Crime fiction reader, and enjoy photography, writing and a variety of cooking and crafts, and traditional decorative art forms. Politically aware and egalitarian by nature, I have a strong environmental bent.

  1. Happy Australia Day to you. I always view you Aussies as a happy bunch. I watched the video and the song being sung and strummed from the bed of a pickup really seemed like a thing done in our Southern states. If not for the heavy accent, big banner of Australia and lyrics on kangaroos I would have thought it looked like here in a stadium the US. It was enjoyable. Thanks for posting it.
