The 30 Day Book Challenge – Can it be done?

I found a book challenge at Becky’s blog from last year, but I thought I would resurrect it  for this month, and half-wondered whether I could actually write about books for 30 days. Let’s see if I can do it. Feel free to join in – see more below….

Day 1 – A book series you wish had gone on longer OR a book series you wish would
just end already.

Well, that is easy: I wish the Stieg Larsson trilogy had gone on longer, but sadly, Stieg passed away under mysterious circumstances. There is another unpublished version of the fourth novel, but as it is incomplete, his father said it would not be published. I wonder how many people would give their right arm to see what Lisbeth Salander got up to….

To answer part B: I really wish years ago, that Harry Potter grew up, put up and shut up. I am so tired of hearing kids talk about wizards and spells and this kind of crap. I am not saying the series is not good by any stretch of the imagination, just that it has been done to death, so really can we let Harry be and not have any more talk of it. There are plenty of other good books out there…give them a chance.

Having said that so forthrightly, you will notice a preponderance of Scandinavian novels in my list. For that is my leaning, as you will no doubt discover later in the month.

  1. This is a brilliant idea, I wish I could participate but unfortunately I’ve been reading more classics this year for study purposes. Some day perhaps:-)

  2. Whew. I have read a lot of 19th century books lately. It is interesting to see what the authors thought was important to portray as opposed to today. 😀

  3. This should be a rather fun series to read. We always love reading about books as well as reading books… And one of our goals definitely for 2015 but we are starting now is to read books MORE!
So reading this series may inspire us some more 🙂

    1. Great! You can join in to this challenge if you like. You might not be so surprised to find that there will be a whole lot of scandinavian authors come up, as that is what I have read for the past few years. Thanks for your comment and good luck with your reading. There are still many great books out there waiting to be discovered.
