One Four Challenge Week 3

Thanks to Carrie, I downloaded  and experimented with Light Room over the course of this week. Gimp required more time than I had at this point, as I am away from home at present, so LR was app of choice. Even so, I was a bit puzzled as to how I was going to change the photo to another perspective, other than the saturated angle.

I played around with exposure, contrast. shadows, clarity and color. I am pleased the boat stands out more yet I would still prefer to see a more verdant mountain, so I will see if I can work that out next week.

      1. You are welcome. There are so many possibilities there…I started using it without reading a manual – my usual instinct- but this time it didn’t work as it is really a lot of choices. I read the basics though and I am considering to extend the trial peered into a monthly subscription.

  4. How exciting! There are so many possibilities with LR and easily accessible too. Glad to see you found something you liked this week. Take Ben up on his post, he is very great at explaining steps and is super knowledgeable!
    I really like how the boat comes out in that darker first image, the highlights on the bush are great too. Enjoy learning and exploring and don’t be afraid of that ND filter or the radial tool either, great things to learn 🙂

  6. It’s easy to see why you would miss the verdant hills, but personally I like the consistent blue hue across the image and the lighter tones throughout. My favorite version so far.

  8. Both photos are beautiful! I really love the shadowed moodiness of the first one but the bright vibrance of the second is lovely, too. It’s amazing what you can do using all the different software. I’m not a photographer, so I can’t comment on the effectiveness of any particular one. I’ll look forward to seeing how you edit the photo next time.

    1. Thanks, Millie. Whether we are a professional or hobbyist dies not matter, it all comes down to what pleases the eye. Everyone has different tastes and that what makes it interesting! You can say more with words than another with images and vice versa!!

  11. Hey Amanda, first up good on you for trying LR, all those sliders and features can be a bit daunting when you open it up tho 🙂 I recommend Scott Kelby book to get you started and then some video training if you feel like investing in it further.

    I like what you did here with pulling more detail out of the overhanging roof, its not just a large black splodge anymore 🙂
