Golden Penda - Xanthostemon chrysanthus

Macro week

Xanthostemon chrysanthus are stunning native Australian  flowers in bloom this month. We are lucky to have flowers and bursts of colour all year round – even in winter, but the heat is difficult in summertime.

Something for the eyes to ponder on

      1. This small tree/large shrub is cultivated as an ornamental plant by plant nurseries, for use in gardens and park landscaping in Queensland. Its horticultural appeal stems from its profuse and attractive flowering [according to Wiki]: Golden penda can be propagated by seed or cuttings. It grows well in subtropical gardens with fair drainage and sunny aspect.[4] The species is less reliable in flowering in climates such as Sydney and cooler.[Wiki] So perhaps it won’t grow too well in NZ. The name is actually Xanthostemon chrysanthus. Xanthorrhoea is the grass tree. I had got my xanth…. scientific names mixed up. I will amend the name mentioned in the post.
