Friendly Friday Photo Challenge

Starting January 11th, Something to Ponder About will be hosting a new Weekly Photo Challenge, with photo and travel blogger, Snow, from the blog: The Snow Melts Somewhere.

The new Photo challenge is going to be about community and interacting with other bloggers, sharing everyday things from our world. You don’t need to be a pro to participate, either. Mobile, Point and shoot or SLR photography formats are all perfectly acceptable. Your blog doesn’t even have to be about photography, in order to participate.

Snow will kick off the challenge with the first prompt, on her blog, on Friday, January 11th, and then Something to Ponder About, a.k.a me, Amanda, will post a prompt on alternate Fridays, thereafter.

Why Fridays? Because we have decide to call the challenge: ‘Friendly Friday!’ Woo hoo!

How to Join the Friendly Friday Photo Challenge

  • We’ll come up with a suggested theme each Friday, and post a photo that we think fits. After that, you post photographs based on your own interpretation of the theme, and publish them in a new Blog post.
  • Write as little or as much, as you wish, to accompany your photos.
  • To make it easy for the host bloggers and others to find you, title your post “Friendly Friday Photo Challenge: (theme of the week)
  • Post a comment at the Host’s Friendly Friday blog post that includes the link to your Friendly Friday blog post,  the one that you published on your blog. [ N.B. please ensure it is a link to the actual post, not just a link to your blog itself.

      1. Thank you for the kind words! Until recently I’ve been using a 13 year-old Canon Rebel. Now I also have a Canon 80D which I really like. I would have liked a full-frame camera but the price and the incompatibility with my lenses helped make the decision. I also use the camera of my iPhone a lot. There are some fun apps available for interesting effects. 😊

      2. Sometimes the older cameras are better quality and last longer! New lens aren’t cheap either. As for mobiles, the old Nexus did well for me untiI got a Samsung note. But then, the phones are almost expendable as a camera, due to their short battery life span.

      3. It’s true! A lot of things aren’t made nearly as well as they used to be made. I do like the iPhone camera though. It’s nice to have more choices these days compared to when there were fewer options, especially pre-digital!

      4. Right now I’ve been having fun with the Fisheye Pro. It has a number of interesting features and cost $2.99. Not bad if one can pay hundreds of dollars for a good quality fisheye lens. It’s available for both iPhones and androids.

  1. I think I might have a go at this, or at least Paul and I will. Paul takes photos, I write. I’m not sure how I’ll go though with doing all the ping backs and links etc – I’m such a nin-com-poop with technology – white noise frightened of it in fact. I’ll give it a go though this time, and will ask for help if I get stuck. Then the challenge will be to quell the white noise that’s sure to crank up in my head when I read the instructions. That white noise can be thunderously deafening at times!

    1. Thanks Chris. I understand the white noise, it is here sometimes too, and the link ups can sound a bit daunting, but I am absolutely here to help you and I will walk you through it step by step, when the time comes. It is not tricky. No code or anything required. Just copy and paste really. In any case, you are still very, very welcome to participate. We can sort the pingback link issue up later.
So excited you want to join. You have some photos from great locations.

    1. Hi John! Welcome aboard! I am sure we will have a lot of fun! So happy to hear you are keen to join. Snow has posted the first post on her blog, and I will post my first this coming Friday. Have you always been interested in photography?

    1. You are very welcome, Daniel. The only thing you need to do to join is let us know you have posted by leaving a comment on the post that outlines the theme. A Friendly Friday tag and pingback (hyperlink) is also good and I will give instructions on that. See you on my blog this Friday!
