    1. Indeed you are right,Snow! It is the Swamp Mahogany (gum tree). It is rather special. Not a tall tree, by any stretch. But so pretty in blossom and the rainbow lorikeet birds love them for the nectar. Do you remember those birds?

      1. Ah yes, gum trees! I remember. And lorikeets, yes! When I visited my childhood best friend as a grown up, I was surprised by how many different kinds of parrots you could see everywhere, early in the morning. I had forgotten the lorikeets but that gum tree flower looks so familiar! ❤️

    1. Yes it is similar to that, Gavin. They look very Christmasy and I used to have two Pohutukawa shrubs growing in my garden. Love those brilliant flowers. You aren’t based in New Zealand, are you?

    1. They are Australian eucalyptus flowers but the tree is actually called a Swamp Mahogany. They are highly decorative aren’t they? I don’t think you would find them growing anywhere else outside Australia?

    1. These are so reminiscent of Australia. The smell of the leaves and the cacophony of the Rainbow Lorikeets evokes summer in Oz!! Most definitely. Are you in Nepal for long, David?
