The Friendly Friday Challenge is a fortnightly challenge co-hosted by myself and Sandy from The Sandy Chronicles.

The first challenge for 2021 will commence this coming Friday 29th January over at Sandy’s blog.

Friendly Friday Challenge 2021

We are opening up the challenge a little more this year, making its focus not purely on photography but making it a little more varied, a little more open and interesting.

Every other week we will post a topic to inspire a post featuring a story, a photo, a recipe or anything else that captures your imagination.  

You can post once, twice or as many times as you’re inspired by the topic.

Sandy and I will take turns in posting challenges.  Keep notified  by following both our blog’s at  Something to Ponder About  and  The Sandy Chronicles

How to join the Challenge

  • Write a post titled ‘Friendly Friday- xxx Prompt name xxx’ with tag ‘Friendly Friday’
  • Include a link to the original Friendly Friendly Challenge post on the host’s blog
  • Optionally, you can include the latest Friendly Friday Challenge logo. Download it here.
  • Comment on the host’s Friendly Friday post, so that other readers can find and read your response.
  • Remember to include a link to your post in your comment. This will guarantee a visit, in the event the automatic ping-back does not work.
  • Visit other Friendly Friday entries by following their links. It’s fun!

    1. Excellent, Joseph. I agree. There are loads of challenges out there but expanding a photograph into a story makes it far more interesting to the reader. What’s more you get to know the bloggers and their part of the world. Looking forward to seeing your work.

      1. well hopefully not too busy – try to keep some margins in the schedule – maybe a few seasons of extra busy but always some catch up and rest down seasons too – ya know

  12. I think you know my feeling on challenges, Amanda. I appreciate the topics you share but don’t really want to join in. Honesty may be the best policy, but I know it might not make me many friends. Sorry! 😦 Hope you’re still enjoying life by the sea?

    1. Blogging challenges do build community but I do understand that it is not your thing. But then your walks are a variation of a blogging challenge and you do build community. For some, the suggested theme is a way to get them out and thinking about taking photographs, or if they cannot leave their homes, search their archives. Some folks may not post if it weren’t for Friendly Friday. I like to focus on the benefits of finding like minded bloggers who one gels with, and picking up some photographic skills along the way – from the skilled photographers who join in.
      When I began Friendly Friday – the theme was not compulsory, and there are many ways to link the theme to a photograph. It has never really been a compulsory theme.

      1. I plead guilty, m’lud! 🙂 🙂 And also sometimes on Jude’s, when she nags 🙂 , sometimes with the Lens Artists, and always on Six Word Saturday. You’ve caught me out! I suppose what I should have said is that I don’t want to add to my challenges. Normally I’m happy to post 2/3 times a week. More than that is too tying. I’m enjoying Becky’s daily challenge but I won’t be sorry when it comes to an end and I have my so-called freedom back. Better? And apologies to you because you do write some great stuff.

        1. No worries, Jo. I was just a bit confused about what you meant as you do seem to do a few challenges if one takes your fancy. I quite understand about too many posts. Our challenge is going to fortnightly this year because we all do have a life outside of blogging. I would like to write more travel posts but it is all archival photos atm, and no one seem interested in reading travel writing. So many of the travel bloggers have shut down. But I am not one to stick to one theme here at Stpa….
