Phoneography Challenge – Editing and Processing

editingphonemar30

Lens and Pens Phoneography inspires me every week to look at a photograph differently and to see more possibilities. Especially when it is Week 5 – Editing and Processing

Camera apps are lots of fun (and a little bit addictive). I enjoy creating some visual art from a humble photograph. Have you tried using camera apps? If so, which are your favourite ones to use?

In the first photograph, a highly saturated version of the original, I like that you can’t see the details of the figure in the foreground. It is still a bit intriguing, a bit of a mystery. This allows one’s mind to create a story, whilst the second photograph is all out there, blinding in its intensity. To me, this expresses how I feel in the bright, summer light of midsummer, in Australia. It is blinding hot and extremely bright. Just like the feeling I get when I look at this photograph.

Something visual to ponder about

Phoneography Challenge – Challenger’s Choice (Abstraction – Poinciana)

PicsArt_1427161769627 (Small)Poinciana Abstraction – Through the Nexus 4 HDR editing tool, then Picsart (app)

Enhancement of the colour gradient tool and Holga effect.

The pastels I used in this effect, deliberately distracted me from the familiar, bright orange of the Poinciana in full bloom. Rather, my head was filled with other associations when viewing this photograph. The delicate blue made me visualise a mirror with heavy scalloped edging reminiscent of 1940/50’s decor!

How about you?

I would be interested in hearing if the image prompted different feelings for you?

Something for you to ponder about.

Week 12 Finale Snappy H’appy Photo Challenge – Craft Activity Collage

WeliveinaFlat has been running a Photo along with Firebonnet for the last twelve weeks. I only entered week 7, so I had some catching up to do. There is so much to learn about camera apps which are downloadable on  an iphone or android smartphone.. The first time I tried using them, I was hopeless at getting the app to do what I wanted, but persistence pays off and through many trials and errors, I am discovering all sorts of additional tricks to add to your photos to enhance them.

So in order to tell a story with photos in the finale of the Snappy H’appy challenge, I had to find a connecting series of photos.  My photo story is a craft tutorial on how children can make a wool sheep from pegs, cardboard and wool. My previous post also used this concept of photo editing so it is included below.

And the last post on my blog: (photo hereunder) is another collage I put together via Moldiv and Aviary to tell a story. Thanks to the Snappy H’appy team for inspiring me!

More info on using the camera apps can be found at weliveinaflat   I used Moldiv Aviary, and Picsart to enhance and collate these photos. Snapseed was used for the final photo

Snappy H’appy Photo Challenge Week 7 – Turn your photo into a Sketch

There is a new photographic challenge on my blog.

This challenge from weliveinaflat asks you to (1) share a good photo that you took or edited last week, (2) run it through a photo app on your smartphone or mobile device and share with us the result. We’re back to the theme of Art effects this week – Sketch effects

ImageImage

I think this app could definitely be useful for artists and my artwork. And it produces a striking photo, especially with the surreal option. The subject pops out at you. When taking landscape shots, the pencil sketch/outline apps of other photo editing software is often messy and too light/too hard, but Firebonnet, has done a wonderful job here: http://firebonnet.com/2014/03/27/snappy-happy-7-sketching-bougainvillea-blossoms/

as has completely disappear with a lovely tree photograph.

Something fun to ponder about and use in one’s photography.
