Monday Mystery Photo- Last time Cambodia

Every second Monday, I post a photo of a ‘mystery’ location, and sometimes a mystery object.  I invite you to leave a comment if you think you know the location, or what the mystery object might be.

If you guess correctly, I will link back to your blog in the follow-up post, when the answer is revealed. Comments will be released on alternate Monday (Australian E.S.T.), so as not to spoil the fun for late-comers.

The Mystery Photo this time comes from Yinglan, who blogs at Another Story.

Thank you Yinglan for the series of photos you sent in. Much appreciated.

Can you guess the location of the following photo, or a fact about the structure?

Last time the mystery photo, seen above, originated from guest contributor Philip Duck whose blog, Cambodia Beginnings, can be found here.

Many thanks, for the kind use of the photo, Philip. It is much appreciated.

Philip tells us a little more about the structure here:

Wat (Pagoda) Sangke,

Battambang city, Battambang, Cambodia :

“Opposite the Wat is a park and the delightful Sangke river. Battambang is Cambodia’s third-largest city, but it’s a peaceful place with some beautiful French colonial architecture. Many consider Battambang rice to be the country’s best.”

Here are the winners for this round:-

Mel and Suan from Travelingmatters.net/  knew the temple itself by the four faces of Buddha
Restlessjo  and Mosy thought it was very much like Angkor Wat and thus guessed Cambodia correctly.

Pooja  and Leggypeggy.com/  were also confident it was Cambodia

Can you guess as well this week?

Last Time on Monday Mystery Photo

Arundhati from the blog Travel Tales of a Dippy Dotty Girl,  had us all thinking hard about the location for her submission featured previously on Monday Mystery Photo! Remember this one :-

Arunhati Dippy Dotti Girl

Here is what Arundhati had to say about the statue and its location:

“The Ronald Reagan statue in Budapest stands in Liberty Square as a token of the Hungarians’ appreciation of the man who brought the Cold War to an end and effectively liberated Hungary from the clutches of the Soviet empire.”

Did you guess correctly? It was a little deceptive!

Here are the winners for this round:-

Alejandro and Drake knew precisely the location

Whilst Mel and Suan offered a regional answer

https://travelingmatters.net/

and Lorelle when pressed, was also correct with the country!!

Well done, Guys! Good luck this week. Comment below to post a guess.

Ineke from iscrap2 supplied us with a great challenge this time, to determine the location for the following statue.  Some readers thought it was a European  Statue, or even Icelandic, and I have to admit, this one was quite a tricky location, but if you have been following my blog posts recently, you would have found a clue there.

The statue is actually located in the Hutt Valley, north of Wellington, New Zealand. Ineke tells us about the location of the statue –

“It stood in front of the Upper Hutt station since 1979,
called the Maternity statue, depicting a mother and two children.

The station walkway has been completed the end of last year. The statue has been moved southwards to a new area and is more visible to pedestrians and motorists.” -Ineke

The clue for the location of the photo, is that it is also the subject of the logo for a poetry challenge which runs once a month for six months on Our blogs: Iscrap2 and Something to Ponder About.

A and I Poetry Challenge

Join in, if you wish! It is something you could ponder about.

Information on the challenge can be found here

Last Time on Monday Mystery

Ted from recipereminiscing.wordpress.com has been a very welcome regular commenter on Monday Mystery, but his gorgeous photo comprised the very last MMP for 2017.

It was of course, the very famous Vigeland Sculpture park in Oslo, Norway.

  Thanks Ted for the photo!

This photo was taken on New Year’s Eve some years back, and strangely enough, both Ted and Myself were at the park on that very night!

Although we did not know of each other then!!! The snow fell right on midnight following the annual Fireworks display lighting up the sky.

A wonderful moment for a traveler in Norway!

Congratulations to Drake for correctly guessing the location.

Who will guess the location this time?
