One Four Challenge – January Week 4 – Vote for your Choice

Robyn’s four week One Four Challenge, involves posting a photo each week that you have adjusted/altered in four different ways. Participants range from amateur to professional photographers, and the software, they use similarly widespread.

Last week I experimented with LR, but this week I have used a phone camera app, Sketch Guru, to crop and apply an artistic effect to the photograph. Click on the smaller photos to enlarge. The original photo is seen here.

As always I invite you to select your favourite from the four weeks, vote, and post constructive feedback and criticism, if you feel so inclined. I appreciate everyone’s opinion.

One Four Challenge Week 3

Thanks to Carrie, I downloaded  and experimented with Light Room over the course of this week. Gimp required more time than I had at this point, as I am away from home at present, so LR was app of choice. Even so, I was a bit puzzled as to how I was going to change the photo to another perspective, other than the saturated angle.

I played around with exposure, contrast. shadows, clarity and color. I am pleased the boat stands out more yet I would still prefer to see a more verdant mountain, so I will see if I can work that out next week.

I lightened this version so it didn’t look like a night shot.

One four Challenge – Week 2 January

image

This week I played around with the saturation, contrast and brightness finally adding a HDR and frame effect in PicsArt. Thanks to Carrie’s advice I  downloaded ‘gimp’ but as yet still just trying to fathom my way through the incredible depth of tools available.

I’d very much appreciate your thoughts or feedback on this week. I feel the saturation in the water is way too much, so compensating for the soft effect of wordpress was way over the top this week? Well, that is a project for next week!!

One Four Challenge – January ( Bellagio) – Week 1

This Challenge is not only pretty easy to do: one photo, edited four different ways, but it is also pretty easy to learn many things, from good photographers, along the way.

Week 1 – cropped and lightened the image.  Straightened and cropped somewhat. This is a photo I could really get my teeth into editing.

That’s a bit better!!!! But I have lost a bit of the peephole effect.

I’d very much appreciate your thoughts or feedback. I would really like the photo to highlight the patterns in the mountains, and keep the peephole effect.

One Four Photo Challenge – December Week 3

I loved the colours in the driftwood in the original photograph, shown in the previous One four Challenge post,  but really wanted to see where the effects could take this with my desktop photo editor.

One Four Challenge – Dec

This week I tried to alter this picture a little more. I cropped out the large black mass at the base of the photo and straightened it a little, then adjusted the contrasts and added a graduated tint to the top.

But it wasn’t that much different from last week, so I added an effect  and a frame for fun!

Quite dramatic I think! A ghostly effect, although I seemed to have created another dark mass at the base. Perhaps that is a task to adjust for next week?

Photo Challenge

Being new to this challenge means that I have some catching up to do, so I started with a simple image from my afternoon walk along the beach.

I loved the colours in the driftwood in the original photograph, but really wanted to see where the effects could take this with my desktop photo editor.

After applying a black and white effect with a graduated tint, I tried a Lomo filter through Picasa.

Week 1 – Black and White

At this point, I am still going with the original as the better of the two…..

Week 2 – Lomo -ish Filter (via Picasa)

Iwas pretty pleased with the Lomo effect! Intensity, drama and saturation but next week I will try to define the driftwood more.
