In a perfect world, no one group or individual would feel so threatened or socially isolated they would need to resort to violence or aberrant behaviour. We can all do our part in our own small neighbourhood, to drag the metaphorical elephant by the hair.
We think of neighbours in concrete terms, in being good or bad, but are they in fact, just varying degrees of different, from ourselves? They lead different lives, they might have different beliefs and traditions, but they are still people, first and foremost. And they make up our community.
