Snappy H’appy Photo Challenge Week 1 – Light Bokeh

Photo Editing is a field I know little about and being involved in this challenge will be a good way to upgrade my skills in this area.

Week 1 of this challenge co hosted by weliveinaflat and Firebonnet revolves around the use of effects of light, or bokeh (rhymes with okay for those who are ignorant of this Japenese term up till now)

The Bokeh effect should enhance and not distract from the photograph.

I used Picsart to add a Bokeh type lens effect to this photo:

An improvement on the original which you see below:

The original had already been adjusted a little through VSCO Cam App with a C1 preset effect, which turned the pitch black night sky a bluish hue, which I feel allowed more depth.?????????????????????????????????????

Snappy H’appy Photo Challenge Week 2 – HDR and Saturation

HDR – filter. Do you use it?

Employing it with some photos in my library did not work. Subjects looked over bleached, or suddenly developed a halo, however it did successfully bring out the features that were normally darkened. The image I have chosen, came alive with the HDR effect in Picasa, even if it wasn’t an entirely natural effect.  I felt like the snow was suddenly within my reach.

It certainly brings out the features that I wanted in the photograph. I am quite happy with this although,  I did have to find try a few before I reached this point.

Thanks for the challenge, from weliveinaflat and Meghan from Firebonnet.

In another photo that I almost used, the mountains were better defined, with the HDR filter, but it wasn’t the best photo choice.

Pic 2 –  The theme this week is Mirroring, and I took this photo with the reflect effect on Camera app MX. I think it works nicely on this shot and displays convergence!!!

Snappy H’appy Photo Challenge Week 7 – Turn your photo into a Sketch

There is a new photographic challenge on my blog.

This challenge from weliveinaflat asks you to (1) share a good photo that you took or edited last week, (2) run it through a photo app on your smartphone or mobile device and share with us the result. We’re back to the theme of Art effects this week – Sketch effects

ImageImage

I think this app could definitely be useful for artists and my artwork. And it produces a striking photo, especially with the surreal option. The subject pops out at you. When taking landscape shots, the pencil sketch/outline apps of other photo editing software is often messy and too light/too hard, but Firebonnet, has done a wonderful job here: http://firebonnet.com/2014/03/27/snappy-happy-7-sketching-bougainvillea-blossoms/

as has completely disappear with a lovely tree photograph.

Something fun to ponder about and use in one’s photography.
