Street Murals – Provocative, Clever, Creative but always interesting.
And another favourite mural here in Melbourne.
Street art makes the boring neighbourhood scene fun even if a little creepy.
Murals at a fish and chip shop and railway subway
I found Sami’s blog and her Monday Mural linky party via Suvi today – funny how I cyber travelled via Suvi in Finland to find another Australian blogger on the other side of my country.
Something to Ponder about

A philosophic Aussie writes here at StPA, one who will readily admit to loving Scandinavia. I'm interested in global politics and what drives us to be who we are. Scratch the surface and you'll find a practical Environmentalist with an egalitarian bent, trying to unleash a little creativity via the written word.
Scandinavian culture, literature and traditions are close to my heart, even though I'm Australian. Travel and courteous discussions greatly broaden the mind, so I travel if I can and am always up for a vigorous, respectful discussion. I'm an avid reader, a writer and I enjoy photography and crafts, particularly traditional art forms. I hope you'll find 'Something to Ponder About,' in my WordPress Community.

Yes, street art has come a long way since the days of gravity. Or is street art a form of gravity? The mural with the wine-bottle is amazing.

I love all the surprise art down Melbourne’s laneways. I also love the increased use of large canvases such as wheat silos for art. We have a piece on an old cement factory near us and it’s amazing.

I have seen some photos of murals on silos out near Moree? They look fantastic and better than plain cement, by far. Have you posted the photo of the cement factory on your blog, Mosy?

I don’t but here’s an article about it: https://www.domain.com.au/news/eyesore-silo-on-former-geelong-cement-works-site-transformed-into-giant-artwork-20180111-h0gsk9/

Thanks, Heather. It is surprising that they were keen to decorate it given that it is going to be developed at some point. Definitely more interesting.

I love street art, Amanda. Your examples here are very creative and provocative.
I also find it amazing when I cyber-travel via blogs in England and Australia to find a blogger who lives on Vancouver Island (that has happened to me three times so far)! 🙂

So it has happened to you too! Funny old world isn’t it. I guess location isn’t a factor in the wordpress reader rankings?

Good morning Amanda!!
Murals have been around for as long as humans have been living inside shelters. From carved walls in Egypt and mosaic works in Ancient Greece, to frescos in the Renaissance era, through to the political murals of the mid-20th century as seen in Latin America or Ireland.

Indeed they have Efi. It is the oldest form of art. In fact the aboriginal cave art is up to 80,000 years old. The art of the people.

The use of symbols was an alternate way to writing down stories of cultural significance, teaching survival and use of the land.

In the car of the aboriginals, nothing bff was written down, so I guess the paintings are unique for them who had oral history.

Yay for Monday Murals! Really cool ones I must say. That wine glass is so clever, I would love to see it with my own eyes 😁

It is an exhibit in Melbourne, Suvi. You position yourself in the illusion and then take a photo. Essentially Trompeloeil. Can you see it is me and my daughter in the glass?

Aaaah even more fun! I was wondering who they were, will have to look more closely 😁

The fish are fun, aren’t they? And it was just some young guys painting this. Most appropriate for a fish and chip takeaway and the bonus is it pretties up an ugly wall.
