This week’s prompt, for you to interpret with your photographic genius, is:
‘Abandoned‘
What does ‘Abandoned,’ mean for you?
An abandoned shed or farm building, an old church or closed down mine shaft?
It might mean a disused industrial facility or closed hotel
You might perhaps, interpret this theme in a more abstract way.
It is up to you.
One can still find beauty in things that are ‘Abandoned”

The disused hotel is a beautiful small building..

With gorgeous windows. I am not really sure it was a hotel but if it was Lisa, it would have been rather nice

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say. Abandoned or not, if we seek beauty we will find it.
Here’s my contribution, and have a lovely weekend Amanda 🙂

What a magnificent collection you have presented us with, Sue. I did wonder what actually happened in those places. What wasn’t the Maginot theatre ever used? So eerie.

The Germans went through Belgium, largely evading th Maginot line, so most of the line never saw action

The dry desert add to the abandoned effect, Aletta! Is there still much conflict in this area?

Very nice set of photos. Abandoned places has a certain air about them. Here’s my slightly different take: https://grahamsisland.com/2019/07/19/the-ocean-doesnt-want-me/,

They have a desolate almost eerie feel to them, Graham and your contribution leaves the viewer thinking a variety of thoughts.

Abandoned can mean sadness but with some buildings they become a place of peace and reflection and live in as a haven for wildlife.

Indeed. Old homes take on a compltely new life as in your example of the owls, Klodo. It is the cyclic nature of life isn’t it?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, in fact some scientists think even the universe may be a cycle repeating over and over again although hopefully we dont repeat our lives( and mistakes) over again!

I think we are repeating many mistakes over and over, but mistakes are the best way to learn.

Great variety for the theme! Sometimes abandoned can be beautiful like old ruins filled with history and sometimes I find it more scary for example an abandoned house with windows looking like black, sinister eyes. 🙂

Maria, I think there is a tipping point between historic and interesting and downright creepy. I also feel that there is some unsettled business there evoking those eerie feelings. Places like Auschwitz, Chernobyl, an old supposedly haunted house in Iceland makes my hair stand on end yet a historic cemetery near my place doesn’t worry me at all. I guess it is all in our imagination; however, who knows, maybe there is something more?

This topic was brilliant and so thought provoking…history, beauty, melancholy all wrapped in one. Your photos are lovely too and I visited quite a few other posts as well in this thread and it was a treat. I have said this before but I must say it again…inspiration all around- thank you:) I did not have anything along these lines so I could not participate but I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the other posts here !
