Walking is something most of us do, and we take it for granted. Our feet take us along paths of life, paths of careers, family and nature.
Come walking with me along my the paths of my travels in this fascinating planet:
Paths can take you to new discoveries, and invite you to experience a sensory adventure. They instill a feeling of anticipation, or mystery, of what lies beyond.
A path might lead to a place where each of us will imagine something different, based on on own microcosmic experiences.
As a child, I was completely fascinated with spiral staircases. Not often seen in Australia, they are subject to strict building regulations but regulations have no impact on a child’s imagination.
This was a path I will never forget – a special memory for me and my daughter. A wintry swim in the geothermal waters.
Do you have a favourite walking path? Is it near of far from home?

This reminds us of our view: that we all chart our own paths, nevermind what others say, nevermind how others judge. We all run our own race in the journey called life. And the paths we carve out are ours alone.
Lovely words, Mel & Suan. And really it is the only way to be, to be yourself! However, we always have to cognizant of others whilst in our own individual mindset. But you are right, our life is our own destiny, no matter what. To paraphrase Forest Gump a little: Life is like a box of chocolates, (or a hidden path), you never know where it will lead you! Thanks for taking the time to comment. Where is your next travel path (destination)?
It is a fantastic place Joseph! I visited at night in winter, which make it extra special. Can you imagine being in a warm pool surrounded by lava rocks draped in snow and misty fog hovering about the water! Incredible experience. I don’t think the daytime would have been half as fun! Are you planning a trip to Iceland soon?
Aletta, you should absolutely go to Iceland. It is such a special experience. A country like no other. And for us in the balmy southern hemisphere, the winter lifestyle adds a touch of novelty. Do you think you would go there?
Thank you Kzmcb! I am happy you like the paths, and for yourself, there must be so many that you come across in your travels? And is there a favourite for you?
It is an important part of our routine! And a very healthy one too! My two dogs get depressed when they don’t go for their walks! An integral part of life.
Such a good theme! Loved seeing all the different types of paths next to each other. I am too often distracted by the scenery but should take pictures of my paths more often.
Yes.It is a especially attractive subject, Susie. I am a bit too obsessed with photos of pathway. My family often walk on ahead of me as they tire of me taking photos.
It seems like that a lot of people like that first photo. That is why I posted it first! It has so much atmosphere! Thank you for the lovely comment. What is your running path like? Forest/Lake/Meadow/Cityscape?
Yes, and that is why I love it. It’s right near my home but it goes though a lot of different areas, so a few lakes, meadow area, and some larger trees.
I like to hike in a place called Highbanks Park. There is an amazing overlook deck and it is about a 2 mile hike there and back to parking lot. There is a five mile loop which takes you up and down.
I found my hikes in Kentucky and West Virginia were my favorites!
I loved your beautiful and diverse scenery along the paths you displayed. 🙂
There are hills, caves, cliffs and some beautiful overlooks. I like hiking on paths almost anywhere there are trees. Streams, lakes and rivers make me feel good (naturally.)
Yes yes yes that is so well said! And when we come into our pace and the present moment we reconnect and go back in to being in time with the nature and the present moment instead of focusing on the past and future 🙂
Yes, Becca, I think many of us dwell too much in the past and worry about the future. It is a time waster considering the present is slipping through our fingers as we reflect on other time frames that don’t exist except in our headspace.
Thanks for sharing I really enjoyed this post. Despite travelling a lot, some of my favourite paths are near to home. I am from the UK but have been living in Switzerland for the past eight years. My walk to walk is along a quiet river path. It is a such a lovely start to the day. I also walk on a more rural path near a farm during my lunch break. I have a poetry blog here on WordPress and today’s poem (in case you have time to look) is about the clarity I get when I swim. It is like meditation for me I suppose. Have a good day, Sam 🙂
Thanks for your comment and visit. It sounds like an idyllic place for a walk. Lucky you. It would be be so nice to take a walk like that at lunchtime. How long have you been writing for?
It really is. I have always liked writing but when my lovely Dad passed away in December 2015 I began writing every day. It was and still is like therapy for me to be honest.

We have something in common – I, too, like paths and photograph them, for all the reasons you outline. I love your posted ones.

A daily walk is important to us as is eating and breathing. We almost feel sick when we miss a daily walk.

I love that first shot. My current favorite path is the running path near my home. I just love having it so close by.

Sounds delightful. May I ask what part of the world you are in? I am in Queensland Australia. (Subtropical)

I currently am living near Cambridge UK. I wouldn’t complain about seeing the sun more often, but it is beautiful here.

Well, if I could send some of our sun to you, I would! I have had enough of it!!! Send the rain and fog over here.

Aw thanks for your lovely comment, Robin. I am not too familiar with the landscapres around Kentucky and West Virginia at all. What are they like?

It’s so therapeutic isn’t it! It’s crazy how just being in quiet nature can make you feel so at peace and like the world has stood still

Couldn’t agree more. We are a part of nature however much we distance ourselves from it. Perhaps this is why?
