Friendly Friday – Special Treat Challenge

We are in the midst of a casual baking challenge in a (time-unlimited) bake-off with Sandy, Moon and Ju-Lyn. Sandy has issued a counter challenge for me to make a Dacquoise ( See Sandy’s pic below). I have to summon up a little more courage before making that. All in good fun though.

Whilst it is somewhat of a cross-cultural event, spanning Canada, USA, and Singapore, my Pavlova recipe was very traditional, originating in the Australian Women’s Weekly Cookbook.

If you are curious and want to try this – here is my version of the Australian Pavlova recipe.

The Pavlova was my Special treat for Friendly Friday

Read more about how I made this particular pavlova here.

I will be back in week’s time with a new theme for Friendly Friday. Come visit StPA then.

  1. Awww … The dacq’s are no more challenging than pavlovas! Less so even because they are cooked all the way through and are really just meringue cookies.

Your pavlova looks so good. I wish they lasted longer so that I could eat more. Yummy.

  2. I’m with Laurie, that dessert looks FANTASTIC! I love the idea of your international bake-off. One of my bookclubs (Australia-Canada) is currently reading Wuthering Heights and discussing via Zoom. Once we are finished we will do a shared Zoom baking using a Yorkshire recipe from that time period. I greatly look forward to it (although I know that what I end up with will not look half as enticing as what you have featured above)!

    1. Discussing Wuthering heights over Zoom must be fun, Donna. I love how Zoom has opened the world up. I do Zoom classes with a museum school in Iowa, USA. I might have to be awake at 4am but it is worth it to connect to like minds on topics I love! Your baking Zoom sounds fun too. Are you all baking in real time or watching someone else bake and making it later?

  3. Oh my …. yours & Sandy’s desserts look so heavenly.
I am afraid I have yet to embark on mine. Unexpected orders came in (for the last of our Pineapple Tart Blondies for the Lunar New Year) so no space for experimenting …
Meanwhile, I will vicariously enjoy both your delicious & beautiful bakes!
