Proverbial Thursday – Proverbs and Sayings from around the World

I find profound wisdom in proverbs, sayings and quotes and  I marvel at the way they are so succinct in communicating messages to the reader. Mostly anonymous, they come to us from past generations and across cultures, and speak of the experiences of lives lived and lessons learned. Quotes like proverbs, can make us think more deeply about something.

Each Thursday, I post a Proverb or Saying and a Quote that I find thought-provoking.  I hope you will too.

“One wave can’t explain the whole ocean”Chinese proverb Sourced from David at: morninggloryphotography.wordpress.com

“Maybe we can comprehend a flower or an insect, but we can never comprehend ourselves. Even less can we expect to comprehend the universe.”Jostein Gaarder, Sophie’s World

Something to Ponder About

  1. Two beautiful proverbs once again. The second one hits home for me. It’s hard to comprehend ourselves because a lot of the time we have many roles to play and so many expectations to meet. And we’re always learning and always changing, so chances are our personalities change all the time too. My, we certainly are all complex people 🙂

  2. Beautiful proverbs Amanda. As for the second one, some people can’t even comprehend a little insect and in that case I feel they won’t be even able to comprehend themselves. Too ignorant. 😀
Have a fun weekend hon. ♥
