Bloggers sign up to write at WordPress for various reasons. To canvas their writing, poetry, photography or present their creations to the world at large.
We write to express ourselves, for cathartic reasons, to inform or to amuse and this is what the Friendly Friday Blog Challenge is all about.
It is a challenge open to all, and it’s no longer just a photographic or travel-based challenge.

I’m looking forward to start writing again. It’s been way to long since I’ve done a challenge. Challenge s are the best way to get started again.

Indeed they are, Ineke. I find them especially useful during a dry creative spell. We have done a few over the years haven’t we? We are veterans now! Remember our poetry challenge we created? And skywatch. I think we may have even met via a challenge, originally? Possibly the wordpress weekly photo challenge?

Yes we are challenge veterans! My info diaries are all packed I would have loved to have a search for the info on how we met here. I know it also had to do with “Birch” Ville here in Upper Hutt. I still do a bit of poetry in Afrikaans. Good times!

Ah. Perhaps that was why we started a conversation. Because of my connection to the Birch family from Denmark. As you know some descendants of that family immigrated to New Zealand. It was such a beautiful place. Good times and great memories! I am glad to hear you still write poetry. It is good for the soul!

Shows you what one memory can trigger many more. That’s why I like to work on my memoirs.

There is plenty of time to redress that.

To be Frank in my earlier days of WP, I was not keen on taking part in these challenges. And you people changed my view and now I enjoy being part of the contributors.
These prompts and challenges keep my brain busy, energetic and sharp which is very much required as ageing is happening.
Thank you Amanda for the inspiration and support.

Yes I remember to were reluctant, so I am glad I have been able to change your attitude towards challenges. Participate in the ones that move you and whichever way you want. A simple quote/narrative is just as good as photographic contributions.

I don’t do much with prompts, but I enjoy reading what everyone writes after receiving one. This looks like it’s going to fun!

We try to come up with something different every time, Ally, and I appreciate your interest. I am always pleasantly surprised at how the prompts are interpreted.

This sounds interesting! I love all the different prompts out on the interwebs… we can pick and choose what resonates.

Indeed, Janis. The variety is fantastic and when stumped for inspiration, the prompts definitely help. Do you participate in the challenges regularly?

There are a few that I participate in now and then (Sunday Stills, Thursday Doors, What’s on Your Plate?, What’s on Your Bookshelf?, and I just took part in a writing challenge with a short story). The great thing is that you can participate – or not – depending on which way your creative juices are flowing.
